Further...

Hello. I am currently an art student at SUNY Oswego in Oswego, New York. Art has always been a part of my life. Creative expression was encouraged in my household as a child and this has blossomed in to my creative explorations in photography, painting, and printmaking.

My eventual plan is to become a high school art teacher, showing the creatively gifted that art is not  “ridiculous.” I know that art is under-appreciated and new artists are discouraged by a negative mentality. I want to show that there is a future for modern artists.

I am also a writer, creating poems as a critique of society, as an expression of my own emotions,  as well as to accompany my photographs and artwork. My work has been published in a local Literary 'Zine called The Canary. I have also written some short prose pieces, though I have not attempted, at this point, to publish any of them.

Through my visual art, I attempt to show people the beauty I see in the every-day world. Much of my work in black & white film photography was of textures and shapes, often reflections, I saw all around me. Though I currently use a Nikon D50 (Digital Camera), I still have the mentality that I cannot change my image, that I must make every frame count. I have begun to do minor editing with Photoshop Elements, but I restrict myself to the equivalent of what can be done within a dark room with film. I believe in the integrity of the original beauty captured. I hope that beauty enlightens and brightens your day.

I have recently photographed my first wedding, (of Jen and Patrick VanSuydam, http://www.vansuydam.com)  and I find it to be one of the most enlightening and positive experiences of my life. To capture those precious moments in people's lives is such a special thing. There is nothing quite like the feeling. I hope to photograph more weddings in the future. Let me know if you are in need of my services. I would be happy to help. You can find the images from the wedding in the "Weddings" section of this site.
